Khoi Vinh has been web design director for popular journal, The New York Times, for four years. He announced Friday that he is resigning, though he has nothing but good things to say about his experience at The New York Times.
Vinh's main motivation for leaving seems to be the fact that journalism really isn't what he set out do with his life. He is a designer at heart and that is the direction he wants to take his career in, though he isn't saying just yet where he is going next.
Vinh's departure couldn't come at a more crucial time for the Times. Print sales are down and within the next six months they will be introducing their paywall. The paywall is the Times way of making profit off of internet users and though many are skeptical I can defintely see this being the wave of the future. Readers will be able to see a limited number of articles per month for free, after that they will have to pay if they want unlimited access.
